MILLENNIUM - BEGIN (1968)

Columbia Stereo CS-9663 Classic Pop / Psych collectible RARE

COVER - VG++ bumped corners bottom left, top right. Slight ringwear, has small delete hole top right. No seam split but some slight "chipping" along top edge. pen mark on front used to "fix" slight tear on "begin" title.

RECORD - VG++ Very few signs of wear, a couple of very slight needle bumps side 2, Side 1 is close to near mint.

INSERT - Includes original insert - some yellowing, has very small pen mark

Begin is the only album ever released by the collective known as The Millennium during its lifetime (though there have been several compilations since the group's demise).

Begin was the most expensive album that Columbia Records had released at that time. The money was well spent as it is now generally considered to be a classic of sunshine pop.

The mention of Curt Boettcher's name is likely to elicit blank stares from all but the most ardent followers of 60s pop, but to cognoscenti he is considered an icon of such proportions that it's safe to say that Boettcher has the highest ratio of reverence to records sold in pop music history. The plaudits heaped upon him come with good reason; this is a man whose work reportedly caused Brian Wilson to turn white with envy.

Bypassing the famed LA session mafia of his other projects, Curt gathered a posse of fellow geniuses with backgrounds from folk-rock to garage punk, occult philosophy to baroque-pop, rock'n'roll to musique concrete. Boettcher's gift for vocal arrangement (a major influence on The Mamas And Papas, Brian Wilson and Gary Usher), combined with the outstanding songs and performances of The Millennium, produce a unique sound; the first album to be recorded on 16-track, it still sounds ahead of its time, fresh and modern.
