Lead guitarist Leslie West's initial solo album, featuring bass/keyboard player Felix Pappalardi, who also produced it and co-wrote eight of its 11 songs, and drummer N.D. Smart II, is often referred to as the group Mountain's first album. Actually the band Mountain, with West, Pappalardi and others, that later played Woodstock and released several moderately successful singles and LPs, was named after this album. Originally released in July 1969 as Windfall 4500...
***Arguably the best of all MOUNTAIN Lp's due to the tremendous selection of killer tunes, one after the other, though both sides, and Felix's bass leads are great trade-offs with West's remarkable howling guitar...This Lp is underated and a collection keeper...
