Description

                                                  ***  ATTENTION! **

Please carefully read our entire listing to answer any questions you may have,  including discount shipping rates at end of listing; then contact us directly with any other information you may need.

WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS:  If you have a question on orders received, please contact us.  We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied.   When leaving Feedback, please consider the following:  eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5  reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities.   SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music!  We have served thousands of satisfied customers  - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records.   Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of  2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.

We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays.  Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday.   We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.  We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order.  Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS:  We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping.  Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.

As always, thank you for your support!

1968 FIRST ALBUM WITH GARAGE ROCKIN' FUZZ GUITAR!

                        TOP COPY!

          SOUTHWIND

                   ...USA - VENTURE RECORDS - VTS 4002

TOP COPY = MINT! One of the *best* we'ved EVER seen...

1968 first pressing on the obscure Venture Records label and arguably the *best* album by SOUTHWIND who made at least 3 other albums...

The first Southwind album has some surprise cuts ~ highlighted by the nasty edged "I'm Movin' On" (with girl put down lyrics and cool fuzz guitar all over the place) and the similar "Got To Get Myself Together" with burnin' fuzz leads...not to forget "Your're Gonna Blow My Mind" with more girl troubles and nice use of fuzz guitar injections...

As well, there a varied mix of poprock, sixties garage rock and even rural edges, noted by lead off track "You Been On My Mind" being similar to the first Graham Parson's led Flying Burrito Brothers ...

1968 era Southwind comprised singer/guitarist John Martin, singer/bassist Jim Pulte, organist Phil Hope and drummer Eric Dalton. Originally formed at the University of Oklahoma as a rockabilly combo called the Disciples, in 1967 the group relocated to Los Angeles at the suggestion of musician friend Fontaine Brown, adopting the more contemporary moniker Southwind and significantly expanding their sound to incorporate elements of British Invasion-inspired poprock, psychedelic, garage and rural rock.

Signing to the tiny Venture label, in 1968 Southwind issued this self-titled debut; Brown soon replaced Hope as a fulltime member of the band, with a move to Blue Thumb preceding their 1970 follow-up "Ready to Ride", in part recorded live at the Fillmore West. 1971’s "What a Strange Place to Land", meanwhile, spotlighted a more pronounced blues influence than past efforts. But it was Southwind's first album that was the most interesting with the cool tracks involved...

  1. You Been On My Mind
  2. Get On Board The Train
  3. I’m Proud To Be
  4. Highway One
  5. I’m Moving On
  6. Got To Get Myself Together
  7. Hollywood Honeys
  8. Tryin’ To Fly My Kite (In Rainy Weather)
  9. You’re Gonna Blow My Mind
  10. New Orleans (Mardi Gras)
  11. Fresh As A Daisy
  12. My Baby Was Never Lonely
