Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Pretty sure this LP was only released in Holland and then later USA ...so here is thee Original mid 70's first pressing of the fiery Danish progressive crew, SECRET OYSTER ... here, one of their best albums dominated by energetic keys, winds, & guitar in self designed tunes that ring a bell with the right sound...
The legendary Danish fusion-prog crew Secret Oyster are considered a 'supergroup' by the Danish rock press, Secret Oyster originally formed in 1973. Notable members include Karsten Vogel (winds) and Jess Staehr (bass) from Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Kenneth Knudsen (keyboards) and Ole Streenberg (drums) from Coronarias Dans, and guitarist Claus Bohling of Hurdy Gurdy. In 1975 Secret Oyster was commissioned to create the music for a provocative ballet based on the erotic poetry of Jens August Schade. The recording sessions resulted in their 3rd album, 'Astarte.' Thirty five years later it is considered a prog fusion classic
Many of the tracks are open ended and adventurous making the most of the talents at this Danish bands disposal. The music on the album is vivid and engaging and takes a few listens to appreciate. "Stjernerne", the second song in the set is hewn from the same rock as the darker passages on the as then unreleased Straight To The Krankenhaus. Dark, moody and expressive and it highlights the excellent electric keys and layered synthesizer work of Kenneth Knudsen, often overshadowed by his band mates, guitarist Claus Bøling and winds player Karsten Vogel. "Sirene" is classic looping and hypnotic Secret Oyster while "Astarte" sees the band throwing in some eastern influence with Claus Bøling's sitar giving added depth to the quick paced mood. Unfortunately "Tango- Bourgoise" is just not as exciting or inspiring. And for much of the rest of the album Secret Oyster play a typical high level and intensity, Bøling's guitar sound is wide and controlled with a superb tone, no more so than on the funky "Bellevue", think Blow By Blow era Jeff Beck, but the highlight of the album has to be the five minute plus album ender "Outro" with some cool sax playing from Vogel with a neat groove laid down by the rhythm section of bassist Jess Stæhr and drummer Ole Streenberg which allows the rest of the band to solo and fall free all over the space they create on the track. All said, a very attractive listening experience for any fans of the prog rock fusion thing.
