PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original =MONO= 1965 first pressing still in original factory cellophane ...riding the coattails of the British Invasion, The west coast duo Sonny & Cher blossomed within the mix of the earliest happening sounds on the scene which included The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Grassroots, Leaves & others...
This - the very first solo album by Cher, and was, of course, a brainchild of Sonny Bono. "All I Really Want To Do", released in 1965, contains the gems: "I Go To Sleep", "Dream Baby" (heavily influenced by Phil Spector), "Cry Myself to Sleep" "Girl Don't Come" and the obvious others.
The later wholesome couple (were back then sort of hippie, new & happening, and were actually viewed as rebels if you can believe it) already had their album released on "Atco" and "I Got You Babe" turned out to be such winner that Sonny quickly arranged this "solo" album for Cher, of course arranging and producing everything. The Lp has nothing to do with the Cher you know today - seemingly like a zillion years ago - for starters, the music is pretty; lots of tambourines, echoes and studio production tricks Sonny learned from his boss Phil Spector. It's not exactly a "wall of sound" production but very close to it. Cher's droll delivery is at least interesting on most of the songs and just perfect on Girl Don't Come. Arrangements are from the Highway 61 school (sans Bloomfield and Kooper, of course) with a mountain of reverb on the drums, so it's indelibly timestamped. Cher has a fresh honest presence on this Lp. Her sound is young earthy and intelligent.
As mentioned above, the Lp was produced by Sonny Bono following his estrangement from Phil Spector. Using the same Hollywood studio and engineers and as many of the same production techniques as he could approximate, Sonny Bono's attempts at replicating the sound of his erstwhile boss were just a notch under the level. Nevertheless, they and the contemporary recordings by Sonny and Chér have considerable charm and achieved great commercial success, sparked by the success of the lead single on this LP, Bob Dylan's All I Really Want To Do, which outsold the rival version by the Byrds in America in 1965.
