PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.

1968 ORIGINAL .... 100% GUARANTEED:

RARE & SOUGHT authentic thick cardboard cover 1968 ORIGINAL legendary "International Artists" label pressing released over 53 years ago =  Texas acid-injected psychedelic fuzz-rock legends featuring ROKY ERICKSON while the historic band issued four legendary/essential albums on the International Artists label 13th Floor Elevators were formed by lyricist Tommy Hall, a philosophy student at the University of Texas in Austin, along with three members from the local group The Lingsmen (Sutherland, Thurman, Watson) and teenage lead singer Roky Erickson - whose prior band, The Spades received local success with their hit "You're Gonna Miss Me".

Released in 1968, The 13th Floor Elevators "LIVE" is an album of cool studio out-takes released whilst the Elevators were still hanging on though crumbling due to drug complications and other legal disputes.

On it's own merit, it’s an enjoyable effort that features some lesser known tracks and interesting alternative takes. There is a nifty version of “She Lives”, plus their versions of “Before You Accuse Me” (a track the band often played live, no doubt dedicating it to the Texas Rangers) and “I’m Gonna Love You Too” (Erickson nails Buddy Holly’s vocal style and they also released as a 45), plus “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love” which is given a raunchy garage rock rendition and is one of the LP’s clear highlights. Other originals are classics too -- ”You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore” must have been an outtake from the first album as it’s loaded with crazed vocals, primitive sound quality, and a tremendous energy (pure mid 60s garage rock at its best). The other track, “You Gotta Take That Girl,” is more of a folk-rock ballad: an excellent one that shows a sensitive side to this great group. "Live" has held up very well, if not better, over time.
Much has been made of the legendary 13th Floor Elevators in recent years. Some say they were the very first psychedelic group and their music represents the purest form of this experience. Others have acknowledged Erickson’s vocals and personality coupled with Stacey Sutherland’s acid leads as an enormous influence. If anything, this release proves the 13th Floor Elevators were a great, down-to-earth rock n roll band that knew how to have fun. Live is recommended to both the novice and experienced fan. On top of it all, the sleeve is rather spooky in an obscure private pressing kind of way!
