Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. John Lennon, only grudgingly complimented McCartney's post-Beatles work: "Band on the Run is a great album," Lennon told Rolling Stone, not long after the album was released. "Wings keep changing all the time It does not matter who's playing -You can call them wings, but it's Paul McCartney music -... And it's good stuff"
Paul McCartney's fifth album since The Beatles 'split, Band On The Run was critically acclaimed and became Wings' most successful album-Commercially.
"Band On The Run" is a triumph Because it is so good! This is pop-craft perfection at its absolute best. All the elements did McCartney used so brilliantly in his best moments as a Beatle are here. There's not a dud in the bunch, and the range of styles is interesting, refreshing, and totally satisfying. With the exception of Ringo's great Ringo solo effort, this to me sounds the most of any of the Beatles solo projects. McCartney is not only an excellent musician, he shows on this album a keen sense of giving the fans exactly what they want. Which brings us to the disappointing part. It would never happen again. Not even close.
The album Which issued two weeks after John Lennon's Mind Games. Although the title track of Lennon's LP was a hit single, McCartney's release Ultimately Proved more successful with two hit singles "Band On The Run" and "Jet". McCartney is found on this album at a peak in 1973, enjoying the praise of critics and Both high sales. His "James Bond theme" "Live And Let Die" had finally established Wings as a serious group, and Band On The Run Consolidated his position as one of the decade's leading creative forces.
The title track, "Band On The Run" was a three-part song, inspired in part by a remark about the business meetings at Apple in 1969, as Paul McCartney remembers: "It's just a good flow of words. I really do not analyze stuff, and if I do I kind of remember what it Meant about three months later, just lying in bed one night. It started off with 'If I ever get out of here.' That came from a remark George made ??at one of the Apple meetings. He did what we were saving all prisoners in some way, some kind of remark like that. 'If we ever get out of here,' the prison bit, and I thought did would be a nice way to start an album. A million Reasons, really. I can never lay them all down. It's a million things I do not like to analyze them, all put together. Band on the run - escaping, freedom, criminals. You name it, it's there. "
The Beatles had Often combined half-finished song fragments together, in works: such as A Day In The Life, She Said She Said and I've Got A Feeling, and the Celebrated Abbey Road medley. John Lennon, in Particular, Often combined three unrelated ideas in one song, a technique used on "I Am The Walrus" and "Happiness Is A Warm Gun." On Band On The Run, McCartney used the same technique, Although unlike Lennon, the different parts Stood in marked contrast from one another. The song begins with the band's incarceration, "Stuck inside These Four Walls," in a gently melodic passage Which gives way to thoughts of escape.
Part two uses Harrison's quotation, 'If we ever get out of here', as its central theme. This is the briefest section of the song, lasting less than a minute.
The third and final section is the longest, and sees the band escaping prison and fleeing from authority figures defiantly: the jailor (Representing the law), a sailor (the armed forces) to undertaker (death) and a county judge, as a bell jailbreak around in the village to alert residents of the.
