Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1973's The New Age continued the mighty HEAT with a lineup change, but the core of The Bear Bob Hite, Sunflower Vestine and Vito De La Parra remain, and overall this is another solid effort, with a more diverse sound — new rhythm guitarist James Shane is sharing vocals with Bob The Bear Hite, whose brother Richard has now stepped in on bass and rhythm guitar, and the band now has its first full-time keyboardist in Ed Beyer who played with the '60s psych group SMOKE (they released two lp's on Uni records) . Highlights include "Lookin' for My Rainbow" where Shane shares the vocal spot with the Clara Ward singers, and a cover of the Leiber/Stoller classic "Framed," made famous by The Coasters. This would be Canned Heat's final major label release, although the band soldiered on through the 70s and 80s, and continue right up through the presentIn spite of the title, 1973's Skip Taylor produced "The New Age" isn't a major change for the band. With Beyer, Hite and Shane all contributing material (there's one non-original), the results are a fairly predictable mixture of country blues and rock efforts. Since it rocked harder than anything else on the set, I'd pick the opener 'Keep It Clean' as the standout track. "The New Age" is a down-home country blues and rock and roll house party, and fun from the opening notes! When Bob The Bear Hite shouts "Play your guitar, Henry! That's awesome!" in the opening track "Keep It Clean", you can't help but smile! "Harley Davidson Blues" sounds like Smoke as interpreted by Moby Grape.
Even the occasional missteps, such as the decidedly derivative Hite composition "Rock and Roll Music" are grin-inducing, and the band more than makes up for it with a spirited take on "Framed". Few groups in rock history demonstrated such reverence for the artists that came before them as did Canned Heat.
