Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Top FINAL COLLECTION COPY!Down right RARE to find clean, 1968 FIRST PRESSING we haven't seen a CLEAN copy like this in years ::: The very first album by the Terry Reid Group, a British guitar trio led by the now legendary singer songwriter Terry Reid who was asked BEFORE Robert Plant, to join the newly planned pre-Led Zeppelin and turned it down...better yet, here's more on that: Terry Reid was still a teenage guitar player making waves in England. Proposed to be one of the next big things at the end of the 60s. By 18 or 19, Jimmy Page approaches him with an opportunity to sing for "The "New" Yardbirds." Reid declines, possibly for personal reasons or possibly because he was the opening act on a Stones tour. Reid tells Page he should pursue drummer John Bonham and vocalist Robert Plant. The New Yardbirds become Led Zeppelin, Terry Reid stays a solo act. Later in the 70s, Reid is approached to be the new vocalist for Deep Purple, declines and that title goes to Ian Gillian.
Is Reid the ultimate failed opportunist? Possibly. But at the end of the 60s, and into the 70s, the young Terry Reid put out some pretty excellent rock n roll.
The funny thing is the direct reference point to Terry Reid is probably Robert Plant. Especially his first two albums, and especially when the music turns a bit more to the folk-side of things. Otherwise, he has a high voice but not near the shrieking of Plant. Solid hard rock. All his albums are good. Here is the first album with excellent guitar playing...the album establishes his sound. Highlights include "Tinker Tailor"(especially the guitar intro), to the steady, exciting climb of "Something's Gotten Into My Heart", and the fact that no song has been recorded that sounds anything like the crazy "Bang, Bang" which is the definitive version of the song... not to forget both "Summertime Blues" and the powerful catchy "Without Expression" Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) Tinker Taylor Erica Without Expression Sweater Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart Season of the Witch Writing on the Wall/Summertime Blues When I Get Home Loving Time
CONDITION: The Cover: Clean and solid; rated: MINT in factory cellophane (a square of the outer shrink is missing at top right, no matter the all important dark cover is mint-clean) still stiff and solid all over... no split seams, no bends, no writing...usually found with much cover wear due to the dark color, this one is a beauty, final collection worthy ...minty clean ALL over!
