PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE...Original 1973 UK first pressing on the highly collected British DAWN label, home to many collectible progressive albums and here, one of the best on the label if you are a fan loving the mellotron as about every song here is drenched with it... hold the vinyl up to a light and it becomes blood red transparent = original sign of a DAWN label first pressing!

Pretty dreamy progressive on offer here with lots and lots of mellotron. "Questions and Answers" and the angular and somewhat quirky "Critique (With Exceptions) being the highpoints Again, If you are a mellotron freak then there is alot here for you to love...
Jonesy is one of the most overlooked and underrated progressive rock bands to come out of the early 70s. Eclectic is the best word to describe this band's style. This LP featuring the above mentioned upfront Mellotron was very much influenced by the first two King Crimson Lps, as well as clever poprock injections and passages backed by a string quartet in late 60's Beatles style. Add to that some bluesy hippie psych as well as some Miles Davis influenced psychedelic jazz and lots of high speed rock guitar solos played without effects that recall Wishbone Ash. But mainly this second album is a veritable mellotron strings fest, placing them somewhere between King Crimson and the much hailed progressive group Spring in their orientation.
At times Jonesy gets a little out there into the world of improv, such as on "Critique (With Exceptions)", but they can also get very song oriented as in the lovely "Sunset and Evening Star", and set moods deftly, as in "Preview". All these facets are best combined on the album closer "Children", which features mellotron played at a relatively fast clip, rocking vocal sections very reminiscent of the aforementioned Spring, pastoral winds, and an impressive buildup with various degrees of experimentation.
If you are totally into beautiful mellotron, this is pretty highly recommended, as long as you realize that Jonesy was at their best when simply keeping up with what was fashionable 3 or 4 years earlier, meaning a 1969 - 1970 sound.

CONDITION: The cover: The stylish gatefold cover is solid, not having the shelf wear that is so often found (very wear prone cover) and so, the front & back are really clean, near M- and looks to be a final collection copy "upgrade" ... fresh colors, no bends, no writing and no split seams...
The vinyl: glossy over both sides, TOP COPY, rated M- play grade is clean, infact both sides have clean audio throughout ... both UK DAWN labels are CLEAN
