Description
Very rare 2 x 7" Gatefold EP by Teddi King. Titled: Storyville Presents Miss Teddi King. Songs include - "I Saw Stars"//"Love Is A Now And Then Thing"//"New Orleans"//"It's The Talk Of The Town"// - "I Guess I'll Have To Change My Plan"//"It's All In My Mind"//"Love Is Here To Stay"//"Spring Won't Be Around This Season". Original U.S. issue on Boston label Storyville Records Catalog #EP 420/421 released in 1954. Condition is VG+ (Gatefold cover, some light edge wear, tiny less than 1/8" seam split at top right seam near side opening)/VG+ (Vinyl) few light surface marks/light surface scuff, some light wear on paper around spindle openings. Very rare Vocal Jazz featuring Jimmy Jones - Piano; Jo Jones - Drums; Milt Hinton - Bass; Ruby Braff - Trumpet. Showcasing the critically acclaimed vocals of Miss Teddi King. Released in very limited edition in 1954 with gatefold jacket and different color cover than the 10" version.
STORYVILLE was formed in Boston in 1951 by George Wein. It evolved from the jazz club with the same name that he had opened the previous year. The Storyville catalogue contained recordings made both at the club and in studios. The label was active in mid 1950s, but thereafter George Wein´s increasing involvement with the Newport Jazz Festival and other arrangements began to demand most of his time. The recordings discontinued and the club closed in 1959. The label has no connection with the Danish label Storyville.
Grading Scale:
10: Mint Perfect record, clean gloss, no marks, beautiful in every way. Very few records will make mint.
9: Mint- Very clean, only a few light marks. A great record.
8: Excellent (VG++) Condition between 7 and 9.
7: VG+ Used, but not abused. Light scratches only. Should play, and look very nice with minimal surface noise.
6: VG Still a nice record. Looks a bit used, light scratches, no gouges, still plays well, some surface noise.
5: VG- A bit rough but will play ok. Fills the collection.
4: G Plays very rough. Has multiple scratches. What a bargain!!
3-2-1: It only goes down from here.
