 An absolute must for any serious blues collector, i hate to over use the word 'rare' and it would be wrong to suggest that this is the only copy in the world as so many sellers almost suggest, however this is an important record and must not be overlooked, it doesnt turn up too often and when it does its always worn down to the bone, i bought this copy earlier in the year and wouldnt of ever contemplated parting with it and i only am now as ive replaced it with a near mint copy which i have paid close to the national debt for!

Mississippi John Hurt is regarded as one of the greatest exponents of the country blues style ever

the two sides here are 'Frankie' which was hurts first recording for Okeh in february 1928 recorded in memphis

flip side is 'Nobody's dirty business' recorded at the same session

these are two fabulous sides

CONDITION (ALL VISUALLY GRADED )

SIDE A. (frankie) i would grade this a very strong v to v+ , there is plenty of shine left and it plays well with no distortion, obviously there is a degree of background noise, there is a half moon lam crack that can be seen more on the other side and doesnt really sound on this side at all, the crack isnt in any danger of worsening and is not like a crack in a normal 78 ie victor, its very solid and nothing to panic about

LABEL. very clean (slight fading on the 'electric' word thats about it

SIDE B. the lam crack is slightly more audiable on this side and causes a few ticks for an inch or so and is more visible, there is also a small white area, possibly a blob of paint or something but it doesnt sound it maybe 1/4" into record and will probably clean off but anyway i would grade this side v+ again with some gloss left and good sound

LABEL,slightly better than a side which is very nice anyway
