Artist: MITZI GAYNOR
Label: VERVE - # MGV-2110. Mono pressing. Label is blue with silver text, with deep groove.
Year: 1959
Condition:
DISC: NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Vinyl looks and sounds unplayed. Labels are clean. Fidelity is superb. Tiny nick on the outer edge of deadwax – does not affect grooves at all. A beautiful record you will never need to upgrade.
JACKET: Jacket is VG+. Front panel is clean and bright; small dark ink mark on bottom seam and opening edge. Reverse is clean with no writing or stickers. Would grade NEAR MINT, but top seam and spine are completely split, I did not attempt to repair. No writing, stickers, or cutout indications. Beautiful bright artwork on this stunning cheesecake cover, suitable for framing!

If Mitzi sounds like a harbinger of endless pop vixen records to follow, you're right, but there's no denying the album's obvious charms, either. For starters, Pete King's arrangements are dazzling, with a rhythmic energy clearly designed to evoke Gaynor's background as a dancer -- this is music that moves, with an uncommon sense of style and grace that contrasts sharply with Gaynor's delightfully lusty vocals. There's not a trace of Eisenhower era repression to be found here. “Mitzi” is a bold, brassy record that exults in its own femininity.”
