ULTRA RARE 1967 ORIGINAL GARAGE LP!

1967 Justice Records JLP 153 label

The condition of the cover is a nice VG to VG+ with a light stain on the front cover, a small tear on the back cover and 4" of discreet clear tape on the top right seam.  The condition of the disc is also a nice VG and it plays great, no skips!

MOD AND THE ROCKERS - "Now" in mono on Justice JLP 153. One of the later (1967) and one of the better (but not the best, that honor goes to the The Tempos) garage bands to record on the private, vanity Justice label out of Winston Salem, North Carolina. From what I've been told, 500 to 1000 of each were pressed, maybe less, maybe a few more. And I've been told that a majority of these coveted album had been bought up by collectors from the U.K. and Europe in the 1970's before Statesiders appreciated their rawness and latent talent.  This album has not been offered on eBay for about 4 years, now almost impossible to find as are most of the 35 or so garage bands that recorded at the label's studio. (Each recorded only one LP, they were not signed by Justice, they paid to have their albums recorded and released).  Two of the best songs were the only two of the 11 written by the Boo Snyder and the band - the super-garagey Gonna Love You Every Day with some fuzz and reverb and the slower Always By My Side. All the rest are covers including a killer version of Them's Gloria. Their cover of the Beau Brummel's Just a Little is a real winner too as is Ninety-Nine and a Half.  Not all the tracks are great but Mod and the Rockers put their "all" into all of them.
