The Montanas – That’s When Happiness Began 7” (orig. Australia Astor MONO AP-1306)

Australian Release date: November 1966 (UK Release date: October 1966).

On offer here is a VERY RARE original Australian issue of the second British 7” single by Dudley band THE MONTANAS.  “That’s When Happiness Began” is an incredible garage punk / freakbeat cover with a distorted fuzzy guitar sound and raucous vocals.  The band never quite managed to reach those lofty heights again!  After THE MONTANAS disbanded in early 1969, JOHN JONES & TERRY ROWLEY became founding members of hard blues-rock band TRAPEZE.

visual: beautiful glossy sheen—insignificant hairlines, also few very light surface scuffs on side 2 (side 1: EX, side 2: VG++) (seen under strong light).

audible: EX sounds superb despite insignificant underlying static.  A HIGHLY ENJOYABLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE!

labels: very light spindle wear / small tear (side 1).
