THE AUDIOPHILE OUT OF PRINT SPEAKERS CORNER MASTERPIECE OF DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE PRESSING. PLUS 20 BIT CD AS A BONUS

SPEAKER CORNER  IS KNOWN WITHIN THE AUDIOPHILE CIRCLE AS ONE OF (IF NOT) THE FINEST AUDIOPHILE COMPANIES IN THE WORLD AND WHEN THEIR PRESSINGS GO OUT OF PRINT THEY BECOME PRICELESS. THIS IS OUR LAST COPY OF THIS SPEAKERS CORNER PRESSING AND THIS PRESSING IS THE CORNERSTONE OF THIS AUDIOPHILE LISTING. -  Compositions and arrangements for pop group and symphony orchestra belong to the British pop scene like the Queen to Commonwealth. The Moody Blues, one of a seemingly never-ending number of groups which sprang up in the North of England, ventured early into new territory in that they undertook an ambitious project which is sought to mediate between classical tradition and modern music and which might very well be described as a real crossover. Their very first long-playing record, made in 1967, was a smash hit right from the start. The album Days of Future Passed jumped into the U.S. charts within a few weeks and remained there for almost two years, bringing the group their first Gold Disc.

As the title suggests, the six individual recordings fit together within the programmatic framework of a passing day. This synthesis of orchestral music and original flower power sound, where the past melts with the future, results in Nights in White Satin, a timeless superhit.

What is more, the brilliant tonal definition of DECCA's patented Deramic Sound System does not cease to amaze and certainly does justice to this extraordinary recording.

The Moody Blues A Question of Balance 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP

Celebrate Four Decades of The Legendary Top #1 LP With First Time 180g Audiophile Vinyl!

A Question of Balance was another huge platinum plus # 1 smash for The Moody Blues and a stellar continuance of their progressive rock sound for the fans of this legendary English quintet. Featuring the original award winning line-up of Justin Hayward (lead vocals/guitars), John Lodge (lead vocals/bass), Ray Thomas (lead vocals/flutes), Ray Pinder (lead vocals/keyboards) and Graeme Edge (drums/vocals), A Question of Balance is undoubtedly one of their biggest selling albums and also one of the most revered offerings in their huge catalog.

Buoyed by the success of the huge hit single Question, their sixth album was filled with more melodic rockers like the powerful Ray Thomas classic And the Tide Rushes In, John Lodge’s workout on Tortoise and the Hare, plus the legendary Mike Pinder masterpiece How Is It (We Are Here).

The wonderful release also features a fine array of songs from the lead vocalist and guitar master Justin Hayward including the aforementioned smash hit Question as well as Dawning Is the Day and the steel guitar prog-rocker It’s Up to You.

The brilliant drum work and hip vocal styling of Graeme Edge are featured on the classic Don’t You Feel Small as well as the definitive album closer The Balance.

The beauty of this album is that you could always count on a classic listen from these five gentlemen of song. Featuring Ray Thomas’ striking vocals and flute delivery, Justin Hayward’s and John Lodge’s guitars and vocal acumen, the magic of Ray Pinder on the keys and classic vocal, plus Graeme Edge’s powerful drum and singing, A Question of Balance became the album of choice for radio programmers in 1970. All in all, a hypnotic and spirited set from this very
important and much loved classic rock band.

This amazing album has been out of print on vinyl for many years, that is until now...

Psychedelic Prog-Rock band The Moody Blues were at the height of their career, and in the middle of recording their "Classic Seven" albums, when they released 1969's To Our Children's Children's Children. Inspired by the historical moon landing, the album centers around time, space travel, and children, creating a musically and lyrically profound work.

It's heavy reverb on the vocals, lush orchestration (that includes a mellotron, harp, sitar, flute next to the more "traditional" band set-up) and extensive overdubbing made the songs next to impossible to play live, making this the last of their "big" studio productions.

This Music On Vinyl reissue's audio is based on the 2008 remastering, and includes a lyric sheet.

After helping lay the groundwork for concept albums and progressive rock with 1967's orchestra-enhanced suite Days Of Future Passed, the Moodies retrenched for the follow-up. They abandoned the orchestra but kept their sound as rich as before by playing a multiple of instruments themselves, including everything from sitar to cello to oboe. At the time, it was remarkable enough for these instruments to appear on a rock record, much less to be played by the band itself. The string-laden conceptual pieces of Days were replaced by shorter, more concise songs that leaned more toward Beatlesque pop and displayed a pronounced Eastern influence.

On The Threshold Of A Dream is the fourth album by The Moody Blues, released in 1969. Like most Moody albums, On The Threshold Of A Dream follows a concept. It explores dreams, especially on the second side, which climaxes with the "Voyage" suite, inspired in part by Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra."

This album is oozing with bright, splashy creative flourishes in two seemingly contradictory directions that somehow come together as a valid whole. On The Threshold Of A Dream provided The Moody Blues with their first British #1 album and remained on the charts for an astonishing 70 weeks.

The Moody Blues are regarded as one of the most innovative and successful rock bands in music history and you only have to put down the needle on this record to be convinced that this bold statement is indeed a fact.

"...in 1969 this was envelope-ripping, genre-busting music, scaling established boundaries into unknown territory, not only "outside the box" but outside of any musical box that had been conceived at that moment." - Bruce Eder, allmusic

The Moody Blues Long Distance Voyager 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP

 180g Vinyl LP!

10th Album by The Moody Blues Features "Gemini Dream" and "The Voice!"

Long Distance Voyager, the 10th album by The Moody Blues, was their first to feature keyboardist Patrick Moraz (from Refugee and Yes). Moraz replaced co-founder Mike Pinder who had left the group in 1978 after Octave. Upon its release in 1981, Long Distance Voyager became the group's second #1 album in the U.S.

The songs on Long Distance Voyager were recorded at the band's own Threshold Studios. The songs were recorded and mixed by Greg Jackman, while Pip Williams was the album's producer. Supplementing the Moody Blues—Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge, and Patrick Moraz—was a string section performed by the New World Philharmonic, which Pip Williams arranged.

Long Distance Voyager is only partially a concept album, as only half of the songs relate to the "voyager" referred to in the album's title. The final three tracks comprise a mini-suite that combines themes of carnival jesters and the chaos experienced backstage at a rock show.

"Many of these songs rank with the band's best...This album should make anybody's short list of Moodies goodies." -Dave Connolly, allmusic

It was 1970 on the tiny Isle of Wight, just off England's southern coast. This year's festival was destined to go down in the record books as the largest rock festival of the era. The Moody Blues were at the height of their psychedelic powers and their set that day has finally been released. The original tapes have been mixed by Justin Hayward himself, and despite the defects of the old masters, an hour's worth of high aiming music shines through. There is a beautiful, optimistic, purple hazy atmosphere and the songs have stood the test of time, the band's most famous tracks are all here and "Legend Of A Mind" is still a psychedelic classic.

COLLECTED by Moody Blues is a careful selection of the distinctive sound of the band, presenting the different periods the band has gone through.

The Moody Blues formed in the early 1960s in Erdington, Birmingham, England. Ray Thomas, John Lodge, and Michael Pinder had been members of El Riot & the Rebels. They disbanded when Lodge went to college and Pinder joined the army. The pair recruited guitarist/vocalist Denny Laine, band manager-turned drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick. The five appeared as the Moody Blues for the first time in Birmingham in 1964.

It was the single, "Go Now" (released later that year), which launched their career. The single became a huge hit in the U.K. and landed the number 1 spot in the charts. The band soon realized that their style of R&B-derived rock and pop was not working for them and decided to develop an original new style, featuring the symphonic sounds of the mellotron and Ray Thomas' flute.

Assigned to make a rock and roll version of Antonin Dvorák's New World Symphony, Moody Blues insisted that they be given artistic freedom and be left without supervision. The result was Days of Future Passed (1967), which combined the band's tracks with orchestral interludes arranged and conducted by Peter Knight. The album plus two singles, "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon", became substantial hits.

Their follow-up album was In Search of the Lost Chord (1968). The album was again a big success with hits as "Ride My See-Saw" and "Voices in the Sky". Their next album On a Threshold of a Dream (1969) featured the sensitive ballad "Never Comes a Day" and was their first number 1 album in the U.K.

The band's music continued to become more complex and symphonic, resulting in 1969's To Our Children's Children's Children, a concept album. It closes with the fan-favorite "Watching and Waiting". "To Our Children's Children's Children" was also the first release of the group's own founded label, Threshold Records.

Released in 1981, Long Distance Voyager was a success, reaching number 1 on Billboard and top 5 in the U.K. The album featured the hit, "The Voice", written by Hayward.

The remaining Moody Blues trio continues to tour and to this day the Moody Blues are one of classic rock's most enduring institutions, with world-wide sales of nearly 80 million albums and a following that continues to support the band.
