'On The Threshold Of A Dream'

Deram, UK, 1969

FOURTH ALBUM from these much loved and hugely respected art rock pioneers. By now, the band had fully embraced a unique compositional style encompassing heavily orchestrated progressive rock and beautiful easy to hum melodies best exemplified by the conceptual nature of this album. Forceful and compelling the production (by Tony Clarke) is both adventurous and complex with added sound effects including tablas, flutes, mellotron and orchestral vigenettes all presented in warm panoramic audio. Man of the match? Well, it just has to be vocalist and band leader Justin Hayward who's rich, creamy vocal never sounded so good.

One of the great late sixties progressive psych milestones - every home should have one.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition, with no signs of any use. One or two lone spindle marks visible under strong light on labels. Grades as a shop fresh MINT-!

Cover: Virtually no signs of use - retains original gloss. Issued in a beautifully designed gatefold cover with 12 page booklet stapled into the centre of the gatefold. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and just a little bit of rippling wave effect to front. Spine is stiff, square and totally uncrushed. Impossible to find like this. Grades as near shop fresh MINT-!
