Original 1958 issue Moondog LP on UK esquire label
This is an unbelievably rare LP by Moondog and is simply titled Moondog.
It is on the UK esquire label from 1958 and is a guaranteed original issue. The catalogue number is 32-055. It comes in a fully laminated sleeve.
In the UK record collector 2008 price guide it is dated as 1959 [there is no date on the labels]. But this copy is not a 1959 issue, it is a 1958 issued and was bought in November 1958. I know this as the original record shop in Leeds it was bought from [actually then it was a musical instrument shop with records hidden away at the back] always put a label on the back cover when the album was sold. The record shop always wrote the initial of the salesman with the month and year the record was sold on this label, so when i removed the label this indentation is still left to see on the top right of the back cover. For info the U.S goldmine 2005 price guide has th U.S issue of this record on esquire correctly listed as 1958.
I have had scores of original late 1950's and early 1960's LP's over the years from this shop and they always did the same thing.
This copy is nearly 50 years old now and is in fantastic condition. The cover is a laminated flip back, the back cover even has the original selling price pre printed onto it, this is 39/7 1/2 d. So it was nearly £2 even in 1958 to buy an album, could have bought a car then for that.

The disc is in excellent condition, it has only been played a couple of times since being bought new. There are no scratches or annoying surface marks or superficial scuffs on it. It is in brilliant condition.
Both the textured ridged labels are like new with no spindle marks or other flaws on them.
The cover has no splits, no tears, no laminate missing, no writing on it, it looks brilliant for being nearly 50 years old. The only negatives are a small crease to the top right and bottom right corner, about half an inch superficial top laminate split on the top seam, and the faint outline of disc storage. But these are only niggles as one look at the cover [see first and second photo] will confirm how brilliant the cover is. It also has of course the indentation on the back with the sale date on.
