MORMOS – The Magic Spell Of Mother’s Wrath. Wah Wah Records LPS 133. Spanish release. FACTORY SEALED VINYL RECORD ALBUM + 7" VINYL RECORD EP. Originally issued in 1972 on the French CBS label. This edition issued in 2014. Their 2nd of 2 albums. Remastered from the original tapes. Limited edition of just 500 copies. Comes with a bonus 4-track 7” EP with picture sleeve (reproducing the original front cover art) that includes the band’s 2nd single (non-album tracks) plus two previously unreleased songs from the same time period, reproduces the original cover art, and comes with an insert that includes photos and liner notes by Jim Cuomo. MEMBERS:  Annie Williams (lead vocals, bass, balalaika), Ernest Mansfield (flutes, piano, harmonica, spoons, triangle), Elliott Delman (guitar, vocals), Jim Cuomo (clarinet, sax, domra, vocals), and Sandy Spencer (cello). DESCRIPTION:  The second Mormos LP at last reissued! Again done in cooperation with Jim Cuomo, who provided two previously unreleased tracks for the bonus EP (which also has the two songs from their second 45), and again a fantastic masterpiece of gently crafted acid folk sounds with jazzy touches that will take you to the same lands Pentangle or John Martyn have taken you before. Jim Cuomo formed Mormos after his Spoils Of War project while still living in Champaign-Urbana (home of the University of Illinois and a music department that featured an electronic music lab [pretty cool for that time], whose resources Jim utilized for some of the music of Spoils Of War). The new group moved to France where they recorded two albums, Great Wall Of China being the first. The Magic Spell Of Mother’s Wrath is sure to appeal not only folk lovers, but also those into more prog stuff. Originally issued on French CBS in 1972, this Wah Wah reissue reproduces the original glossy laminated sleeve and comes with an insert that includes photos and text by Jim Cuomo himself. As a bonus, this edition includes a 7" picture sleeve EP featuring the band's second CBS 45 plus two previously unreleased songs from the era. Remastered from the original tapes by Roger Prades, this edition is limited to 500 copies only. Get yours before it's too late! SIDE BAR:  Their move to France also inspired or was inspired by (not sure whose trip came first) another Champaign-Urbana based young singer-songwriter by the name of Dan Fogelberg, while there he also ended up recording an album issued on CBS of France (I believe he was part of a trio and recorded under a group name [only saw the album once decades ago and I haven’t been able to find anything on the Internet]; wonder if we’ll ever see the reissue of that album. In short order, Dan returned to the States and hooked up with Irving Azoff who got him signed to Columbia Records here (Azoff along with Bob Nutt ran Blytham Ltd. booking until he took over management of REO Speedwagon, got them signed to Epic Records, and left for Los Angeles; before REO, Blytham’s major star was The Finchly Boys). I digress a bit, but writing this down helps spark some of those old neural connectors.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

Please e-mail me with specific details and I will get back to you with your options. I ask that if there is a problem with the item that you contact me as soon as possible after receiving it. Any item that must be returned is done so at the buyer’s expense. Any refund, exchange, or substitution/credit will be at the buyers choice, but not made until the original item is received back by me; in the condition as stated in the item description.  

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
