GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : Morricone in una delle sue colonne sonore dal contenuto maggiormente jazz. Il film, un tardo poliziottesco, si prestava a tale musica e l'incontro con il trio jazz, formato da musicisti di prima qualità, Enrico Pieranunzi al piano, Riccardo Del Fra al contrabbasso e Roberto Gatto alla batteria, ha fatto il resto. Non mi si fraintenda : è Morricone e lui soltanto a comporre tutti gli splendidi brani riflettenti in ogni momento la sua magica personalità. Il trio è il formidabile esecutore affiancato in diversi casi dall'orchestra, entrambi sotto la direzione del Maestro. Ovviamente non troviamo solo jazz ma pure raffinate composizioni con intrecci molto belli fra lo stesso trio e l’orchestra. Minimalismo, sperimentazione, armoniche dissonanze, come del resto Morricone ci ha sempre abituato, caratterizzano i brani dell'album sia quelli di natura con prevalenza sinfonica sia nei brani dalla marcata ritmicità. Fra i brani: "The Blue-Eyed bandit" (a1) con il trio jazz e la sezione fiati dell’orchestra in un percussivo tema di sapore funk, "Double-Face" (a4) interamente  caratterizzato dal lungo assolo pianistico con splendide connotazioni di musica classica contemporanea, "Campi Aperti e Sospesi" (a3) dalle atmosfere rarefatte con suoni sottili e perfettamente concatenati che riflettono angoscia e dramma. Grande musica jazz piena di stimolanti improvvisazioni in "For Enrico, Riccardo and Roberto" (a6). Il secondo lato incomincia con "Beneath the City Bridges" dalla buona ritmicità e discretamente jazzistica con l'ottimo pianoforte di Pieranunzi. "Stranamente di Notte" (b3) dal carattere abbastanza sperimentale con percussioni ed altre sonorità appena abbozzate che nella seconda parte lasciano campo alle improvvisazioni free jazz del trio. "4/5" (b4) jazz e vena funk nuovamente, con ritmo ben marcato di batteria, basso, piano e orchestra in sottofondo, "Finale" (b6) che partendo dal pulsante riff del basso e dalle note jazz del pianoforte prosegue successivamente con un'intensa entrata della sezione archi che creano una deliberata concitazione di suoni atti a descrivere le tumultuose scene finali del film.

Notes : Morricone & one of his soundtracks from mainly jazz content. The film, a late "poliziottesco", was suitable for this kind of music and the encounter with a jazz trio formed by first-rate musicians, Enrico Pieranunzi on piano, Riccardo Del Fra on bass and Roberto Gatto on drums, has done the rest. Do not get me wrong, Morricone is the only one composer of all the shining tunes which reflect anytime his magical personality. The trio is a formidable performer often along with the orchestra conducted by Maestro. Obviously there is not only jazz but also sophisticated compositions with nice overlapping between the same trio and the orchestra. Minimalism, experimentation, harmonic dissonances, as after all Morricone always accustomed us, characterize the album’s tracks from both symphonic nature or more rhythmic development.  Among the tracks: "The Blue-Eyed Bandit" (a1) featuring jazz trio and orchestra brass section in a percussive theme from funk flavor, "Double-Face" (a4) entirely characterized by a beautiful long-lasting piano solo in contemporary classical music style,"Campi Aperti e Sospesi" (a3) from the rarefied atmosphere by thin sounds perfectly concatenated and reflecting distress and drama. Great jazz music full of exciting improvisations in "For Enrico, Riccardo and Roberto" (a6). The second side begins with "Beneath the City Bridges" by the good rhythm and fairly jazz nature underlined by Pieranunzi's excellent piano."Stranamente di Notte" (b3) by the rather experimental feature with just slight sounds by percussion and other sounds which leave room in the second part to trio’s free jazz improvisations. "4/5" (b4) jazz and funk vein again, with a well- marked rhythm of drums, bass, piano and orchestra in the background, "Finale" (b6) starting with bass pulsing riff and jazz piano notes subsequently goes on with an intense entrance of the string section which creates a deliberate agitation of sonorities for describing the movie's turbulent final scenes.
