Mosaic box # 116 is a 5 LP set of the complete Blue Note Recordings of Bud Powell. The music contained in the set (58 tracks) include his sessions as a leader, as well sessions led by Fats Navarro. Included are many previously unreleased takes. Musicians appearing on the set with Bud and Fats include Sonny Rollins, Roy Haynes, Curly Russell, Max Roach, Paul Chambers, Art Taylor, and more. The set was just the 16th release from this new label, Mosaic, which was released in 1986. The vinyl is absolutely pristine - no marks whatsoever. I would be surprised to learn it had ever been played. No spindle marks), no fingerprints, no scratches. The 18 page book has remembrances and session notes by Mark Gardner, and an interview about Powell with label founder Alfred Lion. Also contains great session photos by Francis Wolff. The book is VG++ . The box is VG+. The only minor flaw I can find is a line 2 inches from the left side at the bottom of the front cover (see photo). The previous owner also taped a 1" piece of tape over a sticker on which he wrote the letters "LP". This sticker is on the out spine. I am not going to try to remove this in case it bothers the set itself...I'll let the buyer make that decision (see photo). The booklet says "This is one of an edition limited to 7500 albums".
