LA hard rockers Motley Crue doubled the stage area on their third LP Theatre Of Pain, originally released in June 1985. A rare earth-plundering, multi-platinum showstopper of an album, it blended the Crue's signature hard rock drive with flamboyant visuals and glam-tinged experimentation, leaving an unmistakable imprint on the bands that followed: teased batlike hair, leather belts, tight-fitting jeans. Their world tour spanned Japan, North America, and Europe, while the video for 'Home Sweet Home' dominated MTV's request line for over ninety days, prompting the network to limit video eligibility to thirty days, a regulation that became known as the "Crue Rule."
