Description

VARIOUS: Motown Chartbusters Vol. 7 (Tamla Motown, STML 11215, November 1978, LP)
In 1978, coloured vinyl was the 'in' thing and EMI looked at various bits of best selling bits of back catalogue to see what could benefit from the limited edition coloured vinyl fad. The Beatles and new-ish boys, Queen, were obvious candidates, but this set of golden oldies was also given the coloured vinyl treatment, this one in a fetching yellow. This was then reissued in November 1978 just in time for the lucky Christmas market.
You get the rare "Coloured Vinyl" sticker on fron sleeve - see the photos.
The artists are the Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Michael Jackson, the Temptations, the Supremes with the Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Jr. Walker & the All-Stars, the San Remo Strings, and Mary Wells.
The sleeve is VG with some light ring-wear on the unlaminated rear and the record plays at EX with a few random pops here and there. There is a scrape on the intro to side 2, though this clears a millisecond before the music starts.
The free LP is nothing to get excited about and is a spare copy of the advertised on TV Tamla Motown compilation, the Last Chance (EMTV 20) from January 1980 (a first pressing, no less), that I was otherwise going to donate to a charity shop. The sleeve is a little below VG thanks to some age-staining on the rear, but the record plays at a decent EX as far as I remember (no complaints accepted if there is the occasional pop, though!).
*    *    *    * Records generally have hairline or other surface marks from removal from/insertion into sleeves - these are not mentioned unless causing audible noise. Records are play tested unless stated and any defects over and above what should be expected of the generic Record Collector grading are described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves, etc.
UK bidders please note that eBay now has a 'closed box' invoicing system, which means that I cannot manually update postage if you win multiple items. If you are bidding on multiple items, please message me to let me know, and then wait until all auctions have finished before paying, where evidently, eBay lets you combine postage.
Non-UK bidders please note that I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme, which means that I have no knowledge of what extra charges eBay makes based on your country's customs requirements, etc. Everything goes via eBay's distribution centre in Lichfield. All I get to see is your name and a reference number.
*    *    *    * All items are from my own various collections and most have been in storage for 20+ years. Lockdowns (and various heart ops.) made me wonder why I have thousands of records that I will never choose to listen to again.
