Mott The Hoople – Self Titled Debut Album (12” LP)Mott the Hoople were an English rock band formed in Herefordshire. Originally known as the Doc Thomas Group, the group changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums at the beginning of the 1970s but failed to find commercial success. On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. Bowie wrote the glam rock song "All the Young Dudes" for them, which became a huge commercial success in 1972.
* This album has an A//1 matrix on Side One which seems to be undocumented. I’ve never heard of one like it before! *
Side One: You Really Got Me; At The Crossroads; Laugh At Me; Backsliding Fearlessly.
Side Two: Rock And Roll Queen; Rabbit Foot And Toby Time; Half Moon Bay; Wrath And Roll.
The album is on Island Records, ILPS 9108. Matrix side one: ILPS 9108 A//1 1 1 (stamped). Matrix side two: ILPS 9108 B//2 1 1 2 (stamped).
Released in 1969. UK pressing. Stereo.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: very good (has the odd mark and plays with the odd light click here and here but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, it still sounds great, plays with no sticks or skips and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: very good (has the odd mark and plays with the odd light click here and here but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, it still sounds great, plays with no sticks or skips and minimal crackle).
Cover (matt, gatefold): very good (light corner wear, a few stains on the front, a few score marks on the back).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record on itsreturn.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
