Welcome to my auction for a 1st press on Pink Island label Mott The Hoople debut album. The Sleeve is visually found in excellent condition. The vinyl has two very small surface scratches, the first is 1cm long and the other 0.5cm long. I have tried to show these in the photos included in this advert using carefully placed lighting. The vinyl plays through these small areas without any issue and they are not picked up within the audio. for more information on this collectable rare 1st press please scroll down.

Cat Number:... ILPS-9108

Label:... Island

Released:... July 1969

Matrix Side One:... ILPS 9108 A//2    1 1 1

Please Note these are both very early matrix and Stamper numbers on this pressing. It has become very hard to find these with earlier stampers, in better condition.

Matrix Side Two:... ILPS 9108 B//1    1 1 5

THE GATEFOLD SLEEVE

The condition of the un-laminated gatefold sleeve is excellent, hardly any creasing, no writing and very clean. The inside of the gatefold has Backsliding Fearlessly in the correct order, another pointer to the correct early 1st press sleeve. This record has been stored for many years correctly, and the cover has no stains or handing marks to edges of the gatefold, just some very light corner wear which I have taken clear images of below. THE VINYL CONDITION & AUDIO QUALITY SIDE ONE

As noted before there are two small scratches within surface of side one, however no other marks hairlines are visible using strong light to visually inspect the vinyl. The audio Side one has some faint ticks on the intros and during the quitter part of some tracks these are short-lived and very being faint are hardly noticeable, but for strict grading noted here.

THE VINYL CONDITION & AUDIO QUALITY SIDE TWO

The Condition is as can be seen from the photo excellent without any marks or hairlines to the surface. The audio has some of the faint ticks as side one, these are mainly static and again slight. Track 3.  has two light pops during the quitter part of "Half Moon Bay" which are strictly noted here. The vinyl places with clarity and excellent sound separation throughout.

I have graded the vinyl for overall condition and for its audio quality as VG as per The Record Collectors system.

THE INNER SLEEVE

The original inner sleeve is in excellent condition without any rips or tears.

The Audio quality has been play graded using my Pro-Ject Xtension 10 turntable with Ortofon 2M Black cartridge and diamond Stylus.

I would like to stress that this record for sale is from my personal collection and I have graded it conscientiously using The Record Collectors Grading System for its overall condition. however if you feel the grading is not correct then I will be happy to refund your money in full on the return of the same to me promptly, I you have any questions regarding this or any other listing I have from my collection of vinyl then please message me through ebay, Thank You for looking and happy bidding, ym40

RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD the record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover suffers from folding scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.
