MOUSE AND THE TRAPS

Maid of Sugar–Maid of Spice / I Am the One

Original 1966 U.S. First Pressing 7" 45 RPM | Fraternity Records (F-966)

An absolute holy grail of mid-60s American garage rock and Texas psych-punk. Cut at Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, Texas, and produced by Robin Hood Brians, "Maid of Sugar–Maid of Spice" is quintessential snarling garage perfection—driven by explosive fuzz guitar, gritty Vox organ, and Ronny "Mouse" Weiss's unmistakable sneering vocals. Backed with the driving, moody garage-beat B-side "I Am the One."

Condition & Grading (Strict Goldmine Standards)

• Vinyl Grade: Strong VG+/NM-

  • Visual: Deep black sheen with rich, reflective factory gloss. Free of any deep gouges, chips, or groove wear. Under strong grading light, shows only a few light, non-feelable handling marks and faint superficial paper sleeve scuffs typical of mid-60s custom pressings.

  • Audio: Plays through cleanly and forcefully with powerful mono punch and high-fidelity dynamics.

• Labels: Excellent / Near Mint-

  • Bright, unfaded orange-red and black design with sharp silver-clean print. Clean center hole with faint spindle contact and zero writing, stickers, paper loss, tear-out, or drill holes.

• Sleeve / Jacket Note:

  • Like most regional/independent Fraternity releases of this era, this 45 was distributed in a standard generic/company paper sleeve and was never issued with a dedicated picture jacket. It will arrive housed in a fresh, archival paper sleeve and a protective 4mil poly outer sleeve.

Professional Packaging

• Secure Handling: Your record will be shipped in a dedicated, heavy-duty cardboard mailer (LP or 45 specific) with extra cardboard stiffeners to prevent bending or crushing.

• Pro-Tip Protection: To prevent seam splits during transit, all opened records are shipped with the vinyl removed from the jacket (housed in its inner sleeve) and placed behind the jacket within a 4mil clear poly outer sleeve.

• 45s: 7" records are shipped with the same level of care in dedicated 7-inch mailers.
