MOZART / KRIPS / VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA / VIENNA STATE OPERA CHORUS - " DON GIOVANNI ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd (SXL 2117-20) Stereo, 1958.
Exceedingly rare 1958, first UK Stereo pressing (1st Edition) of the very rare Decca 4LP set with the all important grooved, wideband Decca Label featuring the "Original Recording by..." label text - see photo.
Includes rare original booklet plus EMG Gramophones Ltd contents slip - see photo
English issue and pressing.
All recaords have been professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeves have also been kept and will be included with this item - see photo).
In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No proper scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. Under my bright grading lamp, the vinyl's surface carries few very faint surface/paper scuffs, but none of them correlate to any kind of noise or other audible interuptions during playback. Also, I must point out that there are some light marks in the non-playing run-off section in the middle of the vinyl and a couple of faint finger prints that despite cleaning the records twice, are still just visible - again, these are purely visual and have no affect on during playback at all.
During playback, it plays strong and clean - free from distortion and surface noise, free from interuption from clicks, pops, etc. An extremely rare example of a beautifully pressed record set which has been used but well looked after and still plays as well as ever.
Overall, although it is not quite mint, it's imperfections are slight and purely visual, it would make a good honest copy for someone who intends to play and enjoy it - those searching for a museum piece or a sterile CD sound item might find this particular copy just comes up a little short.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with high-end Sennheiser headphones - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
BOOKLET = EXCELLENT- (Clean but with a couple of creases - see photo)
BOX = V.G.+ (No big rips, massive creases, defacing, water damage, etc. That said, there are a few grubby marks on the front and the paper cover pasted to the box has some slight tears to it's top edge. Also, the top back corner of the box has a split in it about 2 inches in length - see photos for further clarification.
NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records.
