Mr Fox's first album is a thoroughly involving work of art from another planet just like the second one, The Gipsy, it's a minor classic of its own within the loose realm of British "folk-rock", by which we routinely refer to music that is neither folk nor rock, but this is a case where the British folk derivations are central and vivid. Mr Fox put themselves in the ranks of other great post-Fairport acts like Trees, Spirogyra and Forest. Stellar vocal harmonies, arrangements and playing make this an album I'd relish keeping in rotation indefinitely. The cello adds a special flavor at times, with tasty hints of what they'd lay to wax soon after.
In the last 10 years I have only come across 1 copy of this great Mr. Fox album which in my opinion is the pinnacle of progressive folk musicianship in the late sixties / early seventies. This reminds of the Comus stunner for example or also Forest's Full Circle mixed with some Fairport Convention comes to mind. Sensational sound quality, NO skips or jumps. NO clicks, NO crackle. This is really a stunning SUPER vinyl with a beautiful deep gloss. This vinyl has not been played much at all !!! A definite EX+!!! There are only retraction traces, not visible in the normal daylight, totally inaudible on replay. Don't be mistaken, this is a great quality vinyl, worthy of inclusion into a great prog/folk collection!!! Inspected under an intense light source and angled.
Vinyl: EX ++. A fantastic upgrade. This is a seriously desirable ORIGINAL album and very rare in this great condition!!! It does not get much better than this. This is nowadays gold dust and very hard indeed to still find as an original!!! The vinyl has a beautiful glossy sheen on both sides and has barely seen any play. A definite upgrade for most and sensationally rare indeed!!
Sleeve: VG+ to EX. A great single sleeve with beautiful artwork. This sleeve is very flimsy but is still in great shape. No major creases, just two very light thumb creases. The spine has some wear but is fully legible. Light storage wear on the edges. The opening is still super crisp!
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible, LEAVE ALONE IN THIS STUNNING EX+ (the vinyl) CONDITION!!! It is indeed very late in the day for this stunner!!!!!
Holographic lenticular Labels are NM, beautiful!! They present different views from different angles.
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day.
