Classic Records 4x12" 45RPM 200g Clarity Vinyl Test Pressing box set. Original reproduction of Chess album jacket may be included. Limited Edition box set with a total of 20 serial numbered copies. Contents are housed in plain white box with Classic Records metallic foil outer seals. Each Test Pressing LP may come in it's own shrink-wrapped 12" plain white jacket. Classic Records etching is visible on reverse B-Side of each LP. Each album is single sided for optimal sound quality. Quiex SV-PII Clarity Vinyl contains no metallic particles that allow static charging of the vinyl LP. This has been proven in listening tests to provide improved sound quality vs. traditional black vinyl pressings. Classic Records Clarity Vinyl Test Pressing box sets were not officially released to the general public. This sale is for a MINT/Near Mint, NUMBERED 11 of 20, 45rpm 4LP Single-Sided CLARITY Test Pressing Box Set. This set consists of 5 single sided discs, for optimal sound performance, of the Classic Records 200gram reissue of "MUDDY WATERS folk singer". This title was planned, but never released as a 45rpm set or on clarity vinyl, thereby making this an ultra collectible set. These highly collectible test pressings are from the first stamper. Test pressings reflect the closest you can get to the lacquers and hence have a special collectible value and store of value. Only a very small number of these unreleased sets exist and thus this is a special opportunity to hear your favorite title on Classic's 200g Super Vinyl Profile on Clarity Vinyl at 45 rpm - it doesn't get any better than this! This set is packaged in a white special edition box and each test pressing comes in a white jacket and sleeve. *45 rpm records have long been recognized as providing a higher fidelity musical experience resulting purely from the cartridge being able to extract more of the nuance from the complex vertical and horizontal groove modulations in stereo LP’s. Further, Classic Records 45 rpm “single sided” pressings dramatically reduce the mechanical resonances created by the cartridge during playback by allowing these resonances to be more fully transmitted to and absorbed by the turntable platter. folk singer has been an audiophile staple for years. It always gets a bunch of play at hi-fi shows. It's a no-doubter demonstration disc. But never before has it sounded like this! Never has it been cut at 45 RPM!
There are a handful of landmark albums in any genre. In the blues, one of them is Muddy Waters' folk singer. Originally released in 1964, folk singer was the only acoustic album Waters ever recorded, thus becoming the first and perhaps best blues concept album ever. Muddy of course started out playing acoustic blues in the Delta, and he's clearly very comfortable in this return to his roots, which was designed to appeal to the mid-1960s surge of interest in folk music.
folk singer represents a departure from the electric 'urban' blues sound that Muddy Waters pioneered. This all-acoustic collection of recordings illustrates his deep-rooted rural blues influences, reminiscent of the sides he made nearly twenty-five years prior in Mississippi. This release features McKinley Morganfield (Muddy Waters) on vocals and guitar, supported by a very young Buddy Guy on guitar, blues legend Willie Dixon on upright bass and Clifton James on occasional drums.
