The Story

Up for auction: Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick b/w Sweet Young Thing (Ain't Sweet No More), Sub Pop SP18. This is a first pressing with toilet labels, and I initially thought it was one of the 800 on brown vinyl. I took a closer look, and it appears to have a more REDDISH tint to it. I am calling it "raspberry." It's a very deep red that is similar to the brown one, but I think it is distinct. I don't have a brown one to compare it to at the moment, but it looks different to me. I can't be certain it is not one of the brown ones, but I have seen about five different brown ones, and I think this one has more red in it than the others I have seen. The pictures below demonstrate the following.

  • 1. Against a standard yellow light bulb.
  • 2. Against a fluorescent light.
  • 3. Against a lamp w/ a yellow light bulb.
  • 4. Against my standard image backdrop.
  • 5. The fifth picture is for comparison only. It is a picture of the LAST brown one I sold, taken under the same conditions as #4.

Condition:

  • Vinyl: Very light marks. Very nice.
  • Sleeve: N/A - plain white sleeve.
  • Labels: Look perfect.
Condition ratings are based on visual inspections. I have tried to be as honest as possible about condition. Pay me PayPal only, please. It's just easier that way. Payment is due by Sunday, July 13th. Postage Okay – shipping. Here's the breakdown: U.S. postage: $3.50 for first class with delivery confirmation, $5.50 for priority. Canada: $3.50. Other Countries: $6.00. I WILL ship to Italy, but know that it will take a long time to get to you. I do combine shipping, so keep bidding!

I have received a few questions about this record, so I must reiterate: I believe that this record falls into the category of the brown pressing. It just seems to have an extra redddish-pinkish tint to it. If you win, when you take it out of the packaging, it will look brown upon first glance. When you hold it up to the light, it will look like the pictures above. Happy bidding...

Update Still getting questions on this one, which is understandable, as it could be a unique find. The most serious collectors out there may already have a brown copy of this record. If you do, take it out and look at it. When you look at it in the light, is there anything in it that might be mistaken for pink? When you look at this one in the light, there is a distinct pink or magenta tint to it. Again, I wish I had another brown one to compare it to, but I do not. I have seen five or six different brown ones over the time I have been collecting, though, and do not recall seeing anything in them that could be called pink. I am adding some additional pictures below - #6 and #7 are the record held up to daylight. If anyone would like more pictures to help sort it out, please send me a message. I am trying to be as clear as possible on this one.
