Description
MUSHROOM 'EARLY ONE MORNING...' 1973 STEREO LP.
Rare Irish Prog/Folk LP.
First pressing LP released on Hawk Records halpx 116.
Side 1: "Early One Morning...", "The Liothdon", "Crying", "Unborn Child" & "Johnny the Jumper".
Side 2: "Potter's Wheel", "Standing Alone", "Devil Among the Tailors", "Tenpenny Piece", "Drowsey Maggie" & "King of Alba".
Vinyl overall graded as VG.
Side 1: In normal light there is a 0.75cm. feely, but not deep, mark with two very small marks nearby, also there are just a few small, light marks visible. There are a few more light lines and quite a few small, light hairlines visible under strong lights.
The side play grades as VG+ (some may grade it better). There is some quiet surface noise at the beginning of track 1 and also a few light 'tics'. At the start of track 4 there is a small increase in the surface noise and a few 'clicks' (from the 'feely' mark). There's also a little quiet surface noise in other places but it doesn't interfere with the music.
Side 2: There are two quite long (8cm), but very light, non feely surface marks with a 2cm long, thin (2mm), surface scuff and a 2cm light feely mark visible in normal light. There are a few more light lines and quite a few small, light hairlines visible under strong lights.
This side play grades as VG. There is a little quiet surface noise at the start of the side with a few light 'tics'. The surface noise between tracks is louder than on side 1 but mostly disappears behind the music. However between tracks 3&4 and into track 4 there are 15 'clicks' from one of the marks mentioned above. However after the 'clicks' stop the surface noise continues to about 1/2 way into the track and then falls away.
Both sides play with no sticks or jumps and there is no distortion to the instruments or voices as a result of groove wear.
I have play graded the LP on an almost new turntable and have graded as I found it and it does play very well and sounded really good to my ears. However on expensive, sensitive systems the surface noise may increase a little.
The laminated gatefold sleeve grades as VG. It is a little off-white due to age. There are no splits/tears, there is bottom edge wear on the front section of the gatefold. The titles on the spine are still easily read but, although it has started to wear through, it hasn't split. There are a few small, light laminate creases off the spine and the edges. There is an 8x2 cm label on the rear of the sleeve and the remains of a small price label on the front. The inner of the gatefold has just a little wear.
The inner sleeve has some creasing, a little browning & a 5cm bottom edge split.
Realising the rarity value of the LP I've put as much detail in the description as possible, but please ask any question that you may want answering.
I USE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADINGS AND USE A +/- WHERE I FEEL THAT A RECORD IS BETWEEN GRADES.
I AM AS HONEST AS POSSIBLE WITH MY COMMENTS HAVING BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH VASTLY OVER GRADED VINYL MYSELF, BUT PLEASE READ THE GRADINGS BELOW CAREFULLY FOR AN ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECORD AND ITS SLEEVE etc. I WILL NORMALLY ONLY ADD ADDITIONAL BITS OF INFORMATION AS TO CONDITION OUTSIDE THE GRADES MINT (M) & EXCELLENT (EX).
(M) MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be mint.
(EX) EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of being played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.
(VG) VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
(G) GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
(F) FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
(P) POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
(B) BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
