Description
This is the FIRST VEEJAY PRESSING, ISSUED AS A ¾ GATEFOLD COVER in 1964 as VJ 1092. This title was issued with the Introducing The Beatles disc VJ 1062, with VJ in brackets on the colorband label.
The cover is VG++. All the artwork and colors look fantastic all throughout the piece. The only exception is light discoloration found on the outer edges of the black slick. The back cover shows light ringwear along the top and bottom middle area only (see pics). All edges are extraordinarily straight and firm. The spine is very nice and perfectly legible. There is light shelfwear along the top and bottom edges. The inner area of the gatefold has a fading name and four tracks have been circled. Otherwise the white slick is extraordinary and all liner notes and artwork are as fresh as new – NO DISCOLORATION. It is very difficult to find this piece in this shape.
The disc is E. This is just a marvelous disc. The shine is that of a new record. It contains only a couple of small, light marks. The labels are nearly perfect, with all the gloss any collector could hope for; NO DISCOLORATION, RINGWEAR, WRITING OR STICKERS.
SONICALLY the disc is E. It has only the occasional pops; NO SKIPS. MONO is really the only way to go on early Beatle material, and this is one of the most natural sounding discs issued featuring these tracks. Great lower end definition, with an even amount of mids and highs to balance the audio spectrum. Lead vocals are showcased superbly down the middle of the channel. This is just a MUST PICK UP for any collector who has been eyeing this piece for some time.
