Description
JIMMIE RODGERS, "The Singing Brakeman," recorded in more places with more varied accompaniments than anybody else on the Victor roster during the '20s, everywhere from New York, to Memphis, to Louisville, to Hollywood, and many other locations.
"MY CAROLINA SUNSHINE GIRL," recorded in 1928 in Atlanta, features a rough-and-ready jazz band, with C.L HUTCHISON (cornet), JAMES RICKARD (clarinet), DEAN BRYAN (guitar), JOHN WESTBROOK (steel guitar) and GEORGE MacMILLAN (bass). This is the same crew who recorded the immortal "Waiting For a Train" with Jimmie, a couple days later.
"DESERT BLUES", recorded in 1929 in New York, also has jazzy accompaniment, with a mostly anonymous studio crew.
This original 1929 "Scroll" "Old Time" Victor V-40096 is in lovely EE- condition. Plays great!

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
