Description
VERY FEW records show what JEAN GOLDKETTE AND HIS ORCHESTRA could do at their very best, which was playing the hottest, most uncompromising jazz. THIS is one! "MY PRETTY GIRL," a tune from 1925 by Charles Fulcher, is played with such unbelievable gusto and spirit, it actually lives up to the press ballyhoo of the time, which claimed that Goldkette would "Scorch the wallpaper off the walls"! BIX BEIDERBECKE (cornet) and FRANKIE TRUMBAUER (C-melody sax) and STEVE BROWN (string bass) are the unindicted co-conspiritors in this hot, lovely mess!
"COVER ME UP WITH SUNSHINE" on the flip, is a more typical side by them, which shows business-as-normal when Victor was keeping a lid on their exuberance.
This original 1927 "Scroll" Victor 20588 is in solid E condition. Beautiful copy!
