ARTIST: Ma Rainey
LABEL: Paramount 12706 78 RPM (1928)
TITLES: Traveling Blues (20667-2)/ Deep Moaning Blues (20668-2)
DESCRIPTION: I was unable to find a turntable that would play this 78 RPM record to hear how it sounds. So I have tried to describe its appearance as closely as possible based on my experience with vinyl LPs. Several images have been provided so that you can judge for yourself.
Overall, it is evident that general use has somewhat dulled the finish and would cause some surface noise. The "Traveling Blues" side has a couple of minor scratches but would most likely not produce audible pops. The worst damage is where the needle ran off at the end and scratched the paper label. The "Deep Moaning Blues" side looks very good and is generally free from scuffs and scratches except in one place. This side has two minor chips at the edge before the grooves start (see pics). The record has been in my family's possession and has not been played in the last fifty years at least. The original jacket has unfortunately been lost.
