Description
Fantastic playing copy of Madonna's stupendously good 1992 album, Erotica. This is the Made in Germany version and includes Did you Do It?.
I am listing this as a playing copy because it has been played several times over the years (but still sounds fantastic) and I used it myself as a playing copy. I will be detailed about the condition below but please do not bid on this if you want a perfect copy-it isn't. For its age and use it is a more than respectable original and in more than good condition.
Please note: I am an extremely conservative grader of records as I know what it is like to receive things, which are not as described. I do not grade any played record above very good, even if it has only been played once as I think it is dishonest. My "fair" condition is not the goldmine fair-I would not sell a record in that condition; I like to under sell to avoid disappointment.
Cover: Fair-good condition. Sleeve has no splits but it does have edgeware, rubbing and ringwear-none of which are noticeabe unless you hold the cover right up to the light and in a plastic sleeve scarcely noticeable. There are some light pressure creases to the top left of the sleeve and top right of the back sleeve. At the bottom right of the cover there is some wear and the start of a split-see photo. In a plastic sleeve (supplied) these are all minimal and do not detract from the beautiful cover images. The sticker on the front is starting to discolour with age but all copies are like this I imagine. The shop where I bought this back in 1992 used to stick securty strips into the inside of the sleeves. See photograph-I would not attempt to remove these (especially since they have been there since 1992) and they cannot be seen but I suppose for some people they would count as a blemish.
Inner sleeves: Fair to good condition. The paper of these inner sleeves is incredibly fragile but have not split at all. I am listing them as fair because the paper creases easily and there are some light creases but also, the sleeve for the first disc (the gold one) marks easily. The gold lettering for "MADONNA" is marked with some fingerprints, which may or may not come off but I would not attempt this-I think it was deliberate with the whole Erotica concept-the idea of a "used" "soiled" sleeve and so on. The marks can only really been seen when you hold the sleeve up to the light. I seriously doubt any used copy of this album does not have these marks unless they were handled from day one with gloves on.
Discs: Fair to good condition. Both records play through perfectly from start to finish and there are absolutely no pops or skips on either of the records. I am listing the records as being in fair condition because they do have little manufacturing flaws in the surfaces of the disc-tiny little raises here and there, which do not affect the sound but are there. The discs also have many hairlines and marks mainly from the paper sleeves. Both records also have spindle marks.
Disc 1: I noticed one little click on the track Fever, two light clicks at the start of the track Bad Girl and one little click at the start of Waiting. When I say light clicks, I really do not mean loud pops-I do know the difference. The clicks and surface noise on the tracks Erotica, Where Life Begins and Waiting are actually part of the song (lots of 90s albums had this to try and recreate a vinyl vibe in the CD era).
Disc 2: There is a light scuffy mark on the outer edge of side 3 which was there from brand new. There is a very, very small amount of surface noise at the start of the track Words but is not distracting and is extremely light-someone else might not even have bothered to mention it. I did notice some very little clicks in the song Rain but they are very light and I probably would not have noticed them under normal circumstances (not listening to it for an ebay listing, I mean).
Both records genuinely sound superb considering their age and use. There are no pops on either disc. The very occasional clicks are light and this is really a very good playing copy of a classic 90s album. It has been well cared for and always played with the respect it deserves. Ideal copy for a fan building a collection of Madonna originals on a budget.
UK bidders only please unless using the GSP. Hope it goes to a Madonna loving home.
