Description
Up for auction is a very hard to find 78 RPM record (SP). It's in very nice condition. I've seen other Mae Questel 78s come on the market with some regularity, but to my best knowledge, this particular record has not been sold over the last several years.

NOTE: A 3 digit number (in this case 653) represents a very early Decca (US) recording. Decca went to four digits in 1936, the year after this record was released.
Mae Questel (1908 - 1998) was born to an Orthodox Jewish family who discouraged her from a theatrical career. Nevertheless, during the 1920s, she was in vaudeville with a talent for imitations, including of Helen Kane (the original model for Betty Boop), Fanny Brice, Marlene Dietrich, and Mae West. In 1931, she was chosen by animator Max Fleischer to provide the voice of Betty Boop. Over the next 8 years, her voice was featured on over 150 animated shorts. Questel also provided the voice of Olive Oyl, Little Audrey, and Casper the Friendly Ghost, among other animated characters.
