graded VG++/VG for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: The label suffer for 2 writings that are the name of probably 2 brothers that does not have in his minds the intention to make a damage but should be better if they think more over this...both side has several marks around the spindle hole and this suggest several playing.
cover: The cover it's in nice condition and does have a very elegant laminated gatefold with a beautiful painting and there are no marks or writings because the Price brothers like much more make writings on the label than on the covers .... hence a very conservative VG++ .
vinyl: The vinyl it's shining with 2 marks on side one and 2 marks on the side 2. These marks does not sound during the plays of side one but the vinyl has a background crackle in mostly parts but luckylly for the nature of the music you can hear just sometime as in the start of the first track, between the tracks and in some quieter moments so the album it's still enjoyable in mostly parts... anyway not for an EX looking collector. Side two plays a lot better and it's VG+ with some light clicks on track 1 and track 2 and in the last track but the music it's well over so this do not interfere too much with the sound and I have played the lp very loud ...but side one it's VG and plays as described. This is a very rare record and sincerelly in this last couple of years I don't have see it so often so this is still a nice copy waiting for a better one ... and this is a too beautiful lp for to be without.
review:This is one of the best examples in the Australian progressive scene and if you like the electric guitar domination this is the one for you at 100%. This review is in the official site:"Musically, the album fits somewhere between the likes of Cream and Blodwyn Pig, with nods in the direction of Led Zeppelin, the Jeff Beck Group etc. It's a very English sound, but far from being a slavish copy of the overseas role-model the album bears a uniquely Australian flavour. The tightly structured songs and the superb guitar work of Dennis Wilson and Tim Gaze combine to place the record head-high in the progressive stakes. Furthermore the whole shebang is held together by the restlessly exploratory bass style of the great Bob Daisley and the muscular, yet agile drum patterns of Dannie Davidson. There was no hype to the band, just an unpretentious bunch of musicians capable of producing inventive and enduring music. Not only did the band earn a reputation as one of the best live bands of the period, they also released one of the great Aussie progressive albums in Wide open. As the title suggests, Wide Open is a free-flowing, expansive blending of rock, jazz and blues, with a touch of folk thrown in for good measure, a hard-as-nails progressive blues rock extravaganza strong on rhythm and melody, and bristling with exceptional guitar interplay." I can add that it's one of the best albums I've heard over there with a great guitar work anywhere... the track "FREE" it's one of my faves of ever so... PLEASE DON'T UNDERVALUE HIS RARITY! Don't miss! SORRY for the reserve price but this is really the minimum I can accept for a so rare item and this is a correct auction very different the many "pushed up" auctions I see all around! Please open your eyes!
