Description
I'm selling this Male Tanpura, which is specially made by Abasaheb Sitarmaker, arguably the best Tanpuras makers in India. It took him 4 months to make it.
5 ft size, which means it resonates for a very long time and the sympathetic resonance fills up the room and creates that aura that a singer would look forward to. It sets a perfect foundation for royal and live singing.
Bridge is made up of Sambar (deer) Sing (horn), which is generations old spare bridge fitted on this Tanpuras since it is not possible to make these bridges anymore due to the regulations. This bridge alone cost is INR 20,000. Those who have these, don't sell these but I got it due to my relationship with the maker. It comes with a very secured hard case. Shipping from India alone cost me INR 22,000.
I have put the auction at very reasonable price. Those who don't understand the value of a real gem like this are better off using electronic tanpura. There is simply no comparison of a Tanpuras like this with most other publicly available mass-produced tanpuras. This one is for serious musicians who want to learn and practice the right technique. I have tried riyaz on this Tanpuras and just by listening to it for some time while it is perfectly tuned creates the effect of meditation.
This Tanpura will help you develop your singing skills for many, many years ahead and you will thank yourself for investing in a real gem like this.
I used to practice classical singing on my teacher's Tanpura when I a child and miss that tone, hence this was my attempt to start singing again. However I have realised that it is not possible to pursue everything I want in life and hence have decided to part with it. I'm really sad to have it go but am hoping that it will reach the right home.
