Record Description:
As the first Black American to record vocal blues, in 1920, Mamie Smith—singer, dancer, and actress—attained a permanent place in the canon of American music. "Crazy Blues," which reached number three on the U.S. Charts in 1920, is often cited as the first vocal blues recording ever. Condition: V+/E-. Shellac has retained its glossiness, but the record still has many surface scratches and scuffs.
