Maria Grinberg/Beethoven '32 Sonatas' 13-LP Melodiya 023459-84 NM Beautiful....very rare boxed set in NM condition.....the vinyl looks unplayed.   The box is EX....some slight wear with very small sticker on right side.  Includes original Melodiya inners.  Almost impossible to find in perfect condition like this.


 

According to David Dubal, Grinberg saved her best talent for this Beethoven set. It is in a romantic, earthy style. A Beethoven that is “impulsive and technically strong, full of light and dark and the swell of the heart.”


Cover is a picture of the 7 Lively Arts taken from a painting by Cornelius Schut. I have not seen this picture on other boxes of this set of sonatas. It is much more attractive than the plain box!


Colors on the cover are still vivid and there are only a few places where small bits of the cover art are missing. There is some wear on the bottom front edge.


Quite a set. Includes all the sonatas.


Grinberg was a student of Konstantin Igumnov, one of the great teachers of the Moscow Conservatory, and Felix Blumenfeld, a student of Anton Rubinstein and teacher of Vladimir Horowitz and Simon Barere.

 

Will pack carefully in a box that will hold all the entire collection. This will weigh about the weight of 13 records. It is heavy.


The cover represents the seven lively arts by Cornelius Schut.
