Description
A Marilyn Monroe-Related Set of two 12” Acetate Records from "Let's Make Love" - The 20th Century Fox film from 1960. Marilyn’s 2nd to last feature film before her death. The first 78 RPM acetate has a studio label with typed text reading in part: "Let's Make Love” – sung by Marilyn and Frankie Vaughan – 4:20. The condition of this side of the acetate is VG. The B side of this 78 RPM acetate has the same studio label with typed text reading in part: "You With Crazy Eyes” (a shortcut version of the full title “Hey You With The Crazy Eyes”) – a solo sung by Frankie Vaughan – 2:08. The condition of this side of the acetate is also VG. The second acetate is also 78 RPM. The A side is “Specialization” – a solo sung by Marilyn – 3:34 (not used in the film. They used a version sung by Marilyn and Vaughan). The condition of this side of the acetate is G+. The B side of this acetate is "Let's Make Love"(reprise) – a solo sung by Marilyn – 4:20 (not used in the film. They used a solo sung by Montand). The condition of this side of the acetate is G-, with two chips on the edge. The larger of the two chips makes the first fifteen or twenty seconds of the acetate unplayable.
Two bonus items come with these acetates: an original promotional studio photograph of Marilyn and Yves Montand from the movie, 1960; and a Marilyn Monroe fan club postcard sent to a girl in Michigan promoting her movie “Bus Stop” probably from 1955.
These two acetates are very, very rare, and should interest those Marilyn Monroe collectors out there. They do play well, except for the 20 second chip on the B side of disc two.
The original soundtrack's play list was as follows: it was a 33 1/3 RPM LP produced by Columbia Records, September, 1960.
