Marlina Mars – ‘Head & Shoulders’ / ‘I’ve Got To Please Him’ – MGM 13361 (US)
A nice enough version of one of the Holy Grails of Northern Soul, Patti Young’s ‘Head And Shoulders (Above The Rest)’ on the Ernstrat label, but perhaps the real gem here is the flip, the self-penned (Marlina’s real name is Marlene Jenkins) ‘I’ve Got To Please Him’, which is simply gorgeous.Condition: Excellent (please listen to the clips). Clean labels (please see scans).
