Description

Up for auction is the scarce US pressing debut rock original on Sire / London records lp housed in original inner by Martha Velez, titled Friends and Angels.

This is one of those sleeper LP’s from back in the day that has stood up well and is now being rediscovered and we think it is about time! Combining several originals with well-known standards sung with passion and fire similar in style to the great Bonnie Bramlett or Julie Driscoll, this debut Lp found Velez backed by some wonderful players of the era including  Eric Clapton, Stan Webb(of Chicken Shack)and Paul Kossoff(Free) on guitar along with Jack Bruce on bass, Brian Auger on organ, Christine McVie on keyboards, Jim Capaldi(Traffic)and Mitch Mitchell on drums, plus the rhythm section from Chicken Shack, the great Duster Bennett on harmonica, and the cream of session horn players at the time-it added up, to some great music!  Too bad she didn’t put in an appearance at Woodstock that year as I am sure it would have turned the tide for her career. But alas it was not to be, however this album has been left as a document to the wonderful by-gone days of psychedelic blues at its finest !

This copy is super clean save for a partially torn promo sticker with a disk that shows the few usual  hairlines that most vinyl displays from sleeve scuffs. Nothing audible, to worry about.

LP is EX and super nice! Jacket is EX with minor age wear, We can't do anything about that otherwise cover is clean and not bad for  a 45+ year old! No reserve and reasonable start!

We rate this to be a 3 & 1/2 star album and a must for serious blues / psych  heads! Fans of strong female vocalists should add this to collections too!

After long hiatus we are back with lots of items to come! Keep watching Forgotten Sounds! We are happy to combine ship for multiples! All items guaranteed!  Good luck with bidding!!!
