Description

Band: Martin Carter
Title: Ups and Downs
Label: Tradition
Cat Number: TSR012  Matrix/stampers:  STSR012 A1
STSR012 B1

Overall Condition
: Ex   This album appears to be a rarity from a small label specialising in traditional folk music in the early '70's. Martin Carter apparently made 2 albums for them, this one -according to the rear cover - mixes his own compositions with traditional tunes collected  mainly  by Frank Purslow and contained in 'Marrowbones' and 'The Wanton Seed' and around Yorkshire. I enjoyed listening to it and feel any lover of traditional english folk music would welcome it as a worthy addition to their collection.
Vinyl:  Ex  retains its shine and has only v few light hairlines, odd bit of staic between tracks but nothing of any significance and I cannot imagine it has had any real clean since purchase and don't think it has been played much.
Cover: Ex  fully laminated sleeve, all sound with virtually no evidence of shelf wear, a small light crease  on top front opening and slight laminate lift to bottom of the spine are the only 'flaws'.
Label Ex clean with a few spindle marks which really only show under light as tipped

Inner Sleeve:  Generic white paper/poly liner with patent no in blue etc

All items graded using the ebay guide as below but please do view the pictures for details and if you wish for any others I will try to respond to request.
"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint; EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing; VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable; GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc; FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced; POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing; BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
