INFO : The 2nd single from Marty Rhone with his Spin label backing band the Soul Agents. Produced by Nat Kipner who had heavy involvement with the label production-wise early on including the Bee Gees output.
Marty reeled off four terrific and collectable 45’s in 1966 kickstarting a career that spanned over 10 years encompassing thirteen singles with varying amounts of chart success along the way …. surprisingly though no EP’s or albums to his credit which must be some sort of record by itself, though in all fairness his career was interrupted by National Service and later by theatre / stage appearances.
The A-side , a cover of Dickie Thompsons 1954 hit, is a terrific mod-beat number and a full-on toe tapper. Mention must be made here of the superb backing by the Soul Agents … amazing guitar throughout.
The flip, penned by Marty, is a pleasant surprise as well with haunting keyboards though not as much as ‘a swinger’.
CONDITION: Note : All records (except where Mint) have been vacuum-machine cleaned and fully played on a quality system to determine an accurate grading.
This item will be safely packed and includes a new outer plastic cover.
· Vinyl : On appearances ‘Good’ … and certainly good enough to grab in my book as it plays so much better.
Marks on both sides of surprisingly no audible concern. No pops or background noise and the playback is clear and bright on both tracks. No lead-in hiss of note with a little lead-out crackle on B-side only. I am actually amazed at how good this little gem tracks along and it certainly belies its appearance. Rated Good+ and will not disappoint on any reasonable turntable.
· Labels : Tear on A-side and previous owners stamp on B-side as per photos above. Shows age (55 years) to some degree.
· Sleeve : Original company plastic cover in good condition. No writing. No splits. Some expected fading / age wear.
