Marvelous Ray – ‘Whirlpool’ / ‘Tears’ – Abner 1004 (US)
Superb Northern dancer, rarely seen these days! Nothing to do with Ewart Abner’s label, the Vee-Jay subsidiary out of Chicago, this is, in fact, a small Cleveland, Ohio set-up that had no less than four releases by Marvelous Ray, of which this was the fourth and last (and best). Top copy; if you need this record, you’ll most likely never see a finer specimen!Condition: Excellent (please listen to the clip; I forgot to digitise the ballad flipside). Clean labels (please see scans).
