Description

  • Excellent copy of the hard to find Mary Lou Williams 1964 monaural original LP with a cool David Stone Martin cover “Mary Lou Williams Presents” (Mary FJ 2843) with original four page insert. This LP is commonly called in most record guides “Black Christ Of The Andes”.
  • Also appearing on the LP are Grant Green on guitar, Percy Heath, Ben Tucker, Larry Gales or Theodore Crommwell on bass and Percy Brice, George Chamble or Tim Kennedy on drums.
  • The tracklist is: Black Christ of The Andes/It Ain’t Necessarily So/The Devil/Miss D.D./Anima Christi/A Grand Night For Swinging/My Blue Heaven/Dirge Blues/A Fungus Amungus/Praise The Lord.
  • The glossy LP looks and plays great with just a few surface marks and some light occasional surface noise. The cover has no splits or cutouts. There is some wear on the seams and the some light wear overall. There is a library name stamped on the cover. None of this detracts greatly from the David Stone Martin ink drawing or the liner notes. The 4 page insert is near mint.
  • The back cover, labels and playback indicate a monaural recording but for some reason the spine says stereo.
