Mary Straine & Joseph Smith's Jazz Band - I Wish I Could Shimmy (Like My Sister Kate) / The Last Go Round Blues

10" 78 RPM Shellac Record
Graded V Plays quite well given the label it’s on and when it was recorded - a little distortion on vocals early on,Side A but a V seems to categorise it. There’s an inch and a half crack, taped at the edge, but that doesn’t appear to affect play.
“I Wish I Could Shimmy (Like My Sister Kate)” is a cover version, even for 1922, but the Jimmy Cox composition “The Last Go Round Blues” on the other side, though it was cut by a small glut of women at the end of the year, this is the first version on record, which gives it a certain celebrity status. Joe Smith’s band accompany, and that’s a definite plus.
