Mavi Isiklar - s/t  (Sayan LPFS 105, Turkey 1967/8)

Yesss, monster rare original copy of the only LP from this legendary Turkish Psych Garage Beat group! Some of you might know the music on this record from having heard or owning the limited reissue (which was released in germany several years ago), but I´m absolutely sure that hardly anybody has ever seen an original copy of it.

The music is a mixture of self-penned songs and cover versions (including a great "Mr. Soul", "Time Won´t Let Me", "Walk In The (sic!) Dog"), partly with english partly with turkish vocals, cheesy organ, nice guitar.

I traded this copy many years ago from a guy who was lucky to rescue it from being thrown into the garbage by a member of the US Army who was going back to the USA because his service time in Germany had ended (and quite obviously he had been stationed in Turkey several years before...). When packing his goods he realized that there wasn´t enough capacity to take everything he owned back to the States, so he decided to part with some stuff - including his LPs. And - even more obviously - this guy must have seen this group playing live as the cover is dedicated and signed by the band members!!!  (see one of the detail scans below)

Well, although this is not a copy for perfectionist mint-collectors it´s also far from being trashed and well worth having it. Even in Turkey original copies are impossible to find (which was confirmed by some Turkish collectors I´ve met on a holiday trip to Istanbul some years ago), so this might be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get an original Mavi Isiklar-LP! Don´t miss it!

Condition cover:   one of the previous owners has protected spine and seams with sellotape (did a good job, hardly visible at first glance), detailed description of front and back:

back: very light ringwear, few light stains, the area around top left corner shows some browning, a small tear and the lamination shows some cracks (see detail scan below)

front: the area around top right corner shows some damage (lamination is cracked which has caused a 2" tear and that a bit of the picture is missing (see detail scan)), near bottom right corner 2 small parts are missing and there´s a certain amount of wear at the corner (see other detail scan)

Condition labels:  NM  (amazingly there are no visible spindle marks)

Condition record:   shows several hairlines, superficial scuffs and a few small marks (with 1 on track A3 causing a few pops), plays with some crackle (not much of it during the songs) and occasional clicks and light pops (all not disturbing, no "campfire" atmosphere!), but as you might know the pressing and vinyl quality of those vintage Turkish records is sub-standard (several pops are definitely caused by pressed-in material). Doesn´t hang or skip, still very enjoyable listening, overall I´d grade something like vg(+)
